My husband, Martin Luther King Jr., once said, “We are all tied together in a single garment of destiny… an inescapable network of mutuality,… I can never be what I ought to be until you are allowed to be what you ought to be.” Therefore, I appeal to everyone who believes in Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream to make room at the table of brotherhood and sisterhood for lesbian and gay people.
Gays and lesbians stood up for civil rights in Montgomery, Selma, in Albany, Ga. and St. Augustine, Fla., and many other campaigns of the Civil Rights Movement. Many of these courageous men and women were fighting for my freedom at a time when they could find few voices for their own, and I salute their contributions.
It’s that time of the year when people have an excuse to talk about Martin Luther King, Jr. for a moment, then proceed with the rest of their year. But the conversation about human rights is ongoing and far from over. It’s going to continue tomorrow, after the coming election and well on into the future.
If you sincerely want to be a part of the conversation that will effect you, your peers and your children, then you must also want to be informed and challenged. You must also be one to challenge your peers, otherwise this is all fruitless.
hi, this is kind of unrelated to Magneto...but do you know if any character (other than Bishop) can time travel ? THANKS :D
I want to assume you mean any X-Men character. I can say, however, that characters like Kang, Daimon Hellstrom and Silver Surfer stick out to me as being capable of time travel. But as far as X-continuity:
Technically, Bishop’s mutant power is to absorb energy (usually energy that’s directed toward him). Most instances of him traveling thru the timestream has been thanks to technology, whether that be from his own time or from one of Forge’s many ingenious inventions. The same goes for Forge himself, and Cable.
Marvel Girl (Rachel Summers) has also been shown to have the ability to project her own consciousness, as well as that of others, into the timestream. It might not be true, physical time travel, but it’s close enough. X-Man (Nate Grey) could also feasibly use his ability to manipulate matter and energy to power a temporal rift.
Legion (David Haller) has had the ability to time travel, thru one of his many personalities.
Gateway’s ability to create wormholes allows for time travel as well.
Really? I don’t remember that oneshot. *goes to wiki*
Yeah, it was a free one-shot that some comic shops gave out a week before Second Coming #1 hit the shelves. It had a 6-page prelude story to the event, some cover previews and sketches, and (not very subtly) a handbook-style explanation of the Phoenix Force.
